Annual Embassy Education Seminar
UCLan was represented at the 3rd Annual Embassy Education Seminar in London. The keynote address was given by the Minister for Universities and Science, The Rt Hon David Willetts, MP.
He announced that his ministry will be increasing the postgraduate funding available to universities, especially for science & research.
He told the diplomats that he understands their concerns about the current immigration rules for international students coming to study in the UK, and that his office will continue to work with the universities and the Home Office to ensure that genuine students are not prevented from coming to the UK.
This is a networking opportunity for diplomats and representatives from various education institutions in the UK to discuss how they can work together.
Jeremy Oppenheim from the Home Office and Nicola Dandridge from Universities UK also addressed the participants.
UCLan was represented by Angeline Ward from the International Office.
